WEVA Convention

We had such a great time at the International WEVA convention in Orlando, FL.. We learned so many new things and met up again with great friends from around the world. I wanted to share with you some great friends who also own and run video productions companies around the USA. From left to right are Steve & Laura Moses from Vantage Point Productions out of San Dimas, CA, Brett Culp from Tampa, FL who owns Brett Culp Films and Mark & Trisha Von Lanken from Tulsa, OK who own Von Wedding Films. The reason the ladies are holding flowers is because the two couples renewed their vows at the WEVA convention. Brett is a minister and performed the ceremony. Both of the couples have been married for 25 years. It was so special to see such great friends renew their love for each other. I can hardly wait to see all of you again at next year's WEVA convention! Congratulations Steve and Laura and Mark and Trisha!

Fun day on the job!

   We had a great time with Adam Mueller at Stef and Jed's wedding on Sept. 5th. Adam decided that he would have a little fun with us and take some photos out in the field. We were at the golf course in Viroqua that day. Thank you Adam for sending them over to the studio!

WEVA Convention in Orlando

Jan and I are anxious to to attend our 10th annual WEVA (Wedding & Event Videographery) convention next week.  This convention is intense with lots of seminars and classes. Every year, we come home with something new to integrate into our video business. I'm bringing the camera and plan on taking lots of photos of all of our friends that we've made over the last 10 years. We are looking forward to the trip.

Where did the summer go?

Wow, I realized that I've not post in quite a while. Where did the last 2 months go? We were so busy during the month of May and June, that they slipped right by me. We shot 11 dance recitals and 4 weddings all in a 6 week period! Is that insane or what? We made it through and were so glad that we could do all of the projects. My poor wonderful husband has been editing constantly trying to get all the recitals out of the studio. Congrats Jan, you just finished up your last recital! I've been the secretary, bookeeper and also shipping & handling person in the studio. Printing out labels for the dance recitals, packaging, putting on stamps, etc. About 2 weeks ago I could barely get through my office because I had so many dance recital orders laying around waiting to go out. I can now get through my office and I can see the glass again on my desk. Amen! 

Where has summer gone? You know living in Minnesota and Wisconsin we all look so forward to our summers. I think that finally this week it has arrived. Yeah! I do have to admit though when we are out filming weddings, it has been really comfortable to have the 70's as highs. I could tell you stories of having to put our battery packs for our camera lights in a big cooler because we could not risk them draining power from being in the vehicle during the ceremony. This year it has been so nice to not have to do that. Although, I have a feeling that we'll be doing it again at the next wedding. 

Jan and I have now been enjoying the outdoors a little more and barbecueing with friends. It has been great to have a little time to sit back and listen to a little bit of Jimmy Buffet music and socialize a bit with friends.

I love my job! Touching people's lives.

You know sometimes in life we all reevaluate why we do what we do. I'm pretty sure every one does. I wanted to share with you why Jan and I love filming and creating memories for people. I went to get our mail yesterday and we received a "Thank you" from one of the many wedding couples that we  filmed and edited. Jan and I were so touched by what they said. I want to share with you what was in their "Thank you".

We want to thank you greatly for all you did to capture our special day. We cry every time we watch our video. The video captured our emotions wonderfully. You are wonderful videographers and we had a wonderful time working with you guys. We have received wonderful comments about you and our video. Words cannot describe how grateful we are for our wedding video.

This is why we do what we do. It feels fantastic to know that we created such a memory for the two of them and their families. Someday there children will greatly appreciate seeing how there mom and dad celebrated their wedding day.

Good quality video production is so powerful. I can't describe it into words,but I can certainly tell you that the emotions we feel from doing this for a living is unbelievable! It feels great!

For those of you who are on the fence, "so to speak", about capturing your wedding day, take a really good hard look at what you want to have in the end when your wedding is all over with. Your wedding day will fly right by and you will wonder what happend? I hear over and over from our clients how the day flys by and also how they can't remember everything that went on. It makes me feel good to know that our job is to make sure they can look back and remember it all.

  We are thrilled to announce a new product. Jan and I are now desgining Movie Posters. They are a huge hit with our clients and a lot of fun to design. In the Heart of Winter....Spring will be here soon!

I was looking at the calendar the other day and thought, "Is Spring ever going to get here?" I don't know about you, but I am anxious for warmer weather to arrive. Jan and I are ready to get back into the wedding season strong and hard. March will kick in our season and it will be busy until the Fall. May is jammed with many events. We love being busy and I want to to let you know that we still have some dates available for 2009.

I was thinking about how our company has grown and changed over the last 10 years. Wow, has technology come a long ways. It really gives us such joy to give our clients a wonderful movie to pass onto their children and for them to now sit down and watch their wedding day over and over again. It is actually very true because we produce your wedding into a movie. For those of you who are unfamiliar with our style, I will try to fill you in.

Our style of production with Artistic Video Productions is taking your wedding day and turning it into a movie, rather than a traditional documentary video. When I say movie, I really mean movie. We take all of our camera angles of the day and tell your story into about a 40-50 minute movie. Jan adds in a film look in post and works very hard timing out all the details. Jan usually spends about 60-80 hours on a 6-8 hour wedding day shoot. The post editing is very time intensive.The wedding movie DVD is the one you will love watching over and over again and is also the perfect edit to show your family and friends. Along with your movie is a second DVD of your entire ceremony, toasts and special dances. This is nice to have if you and your spouse ever want to sit and watch everything in its entirety. Over time though, it is the movie that everyone loves to watch.  We have had so many couples tell us that after they have watched their movie, they just can't believe all the activities that went on and how much of their day they don't remember! I guess that I am trying to say is, you as the bride and groom spend so many hours in the planning stages your wedding, you won't remember everything that goes on in your day. We have so many clients so grateful that they made the investment of having us come in and capture their wedding day.

Like the Mastercard commercials says, "Priceless."

Merry Christmas!

 

This is the time of year to think about how wonderful life is and to realize how many wonderful people Jan and I have met. This is also the time of year where we stop and take a moment to realize how lucky we are to have worked with so many wonderful  wedding vendors and couples who have allowed us to capture such precious memories for them. Jan and I shot a wedding back in September and were introduced to a very talented singer and songwriter, Vicky Emerson.Vicky is a friend of the couple who were getting married that day and she played and sang for them at the wedding. Wow, what a talent and such a wonderful person. Jan and I being musicians ourselves, were very interested in her music.
